Top 5 Video Game Launch Titles

1: Super Mario World (SNES)

Super Mario World

The Super Nintendo Entertainment System is regarded by many as the greatest video game console of all time. Case in point: It launched with Super Mario World right out of the box!

Not only was Mario World available on day one for SNES owners, but it came bundled with the system in what is probably the biggest steal in video game history.

Everything that Nintendo learned in developing the NES Mario games was refined, rewritten, and given a whole new depth in Mario World. It gave Mario a flying cape, housed so many secrets that even experts still have trouble finding them all, and it introduced the world to Yoshi.

Super Mario World is a master class in game design, one of the greatest platformers ever made, and is as timeless as they come. And it came right out of the box. This is how you launch a console.

Born of cold and winter air and mountain rain combining, the man called Scott is an ancient sorcerer from a long-forgotten realm. He’s more machine now than man, twisted and evil. Or, you know, he could just be some guy who loves video games, animations and cinema who just wanted to write about such things.

  1. Loving the new website! But one quick thing, I haven’t seen a spot that shows the date the article was written, not a big deal at all, just wondering if you were going to change that. Congrats and keep on with the good work though!

    1. There is actually a small spot that says when the article was written at the bottom of the articles, right alongside the category and tags the article is listed under.

And thanks! Glad you enjoy the new site.
