Nintendo NX Revealed as Nintendo Switch!

The time is upon us! Nintendo’s next home console is finally revealed, and its official name is the Nintendo Switch! You can watch the reveal trailer right here.

The biggest reveals for Nintendo’s new console is that, as it was often rumored, it is indeed a hybrid of a home console and a handheld system, which will surely change Nintendo’s game considerably. And as it was also rumored, the games will return to cartridges.

Along with the previously announced Nintendo Switch version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, confirmed games include a new Mario Kart, Splatoon (either a new version or a sequel), an Elder Scrolls title, and a brand new 3D Mario game.

And, believe it or not, it’s still scheduled for a worldwide release this March!

  1. I’m pretty excited about it! I can’t see myself bringing the console outside of my home, but its portability gives me some options to go to another room rather than competing with other people for the main living room area. The whole thing seems really innovative, and it’ll probably be the first system I buy for myself brand new!

  2. Honestly, if Nintendo are able to pull off this whole portable/home console hybrid, this could become a personal favourite console of mine. The accessibility and convenience of the Switch is quite innovative and arguably revolutionary. One uniform platform for all current Nintendo games sounds excellent. Plus if they’re third party support is on par with their competition, I may even divert to Nintendo as my third party gaming platform, due to that “take your console gaming on the go” mentality. This synergistic quality will hopefully transcend that Nintendo charm, making Nintendo a serious competitor once again. Now the question is whether to get Breath of the Wild on the Wii U or The Switch?

    1. Personally, I’ll probably be SWITCHing my paid-for copy of Breath of the Wild from Wii U to Switch, thus making Yooka-Laylee the last boxed Wii U game I get (at least at release, there are still others I need to catch up on). Nintendo actually revealed a list of some of the developers who will be working on games for the Switch, and among them were Bethesda, Konami, Capcom, TellTale Games and, most notably (for me, anyway), From Software. Just imagining the possibility of Mario and Dark Souls being on the same console is a dream come true.

  3. I’m so excited for the Nintendo Switch! The trailer sold me on the concept, and I look forward to playing console games on-the-go! I also loved those 5 seconds of 3D Mario. I watched them over and over. It reminds me of a more classic approach to 3D Mario, as in 64 and Sunshine. What little we’ve seen actually really reminds me of Sunshine! I’ll be picking the Switch when it comes out, for sure!

  4. I’m so excited for the Nintendo Switch! The trailer did a really good job of selling the console and showing off some of its features. I’ll definitely be getting it when it comes out!
